Surgical masks are not biodegradable, the majority of said masks are made of polypropylene and take hundreds of years to break down.
I use reusable face masks. I thoroughly wash my face masks after each use. As of yet, knock on wood, I have not contracted covid 19.
Unless, you are a front-line emergency warrior worker or, your health is poor, or, you're so old that when you gas, dust comes out, I encourage you to use reusable face masks.
FYI, 98% of the masks I wear were found on the street or in nature. I thoroughly washed and REWASHED them, RETHINK, REUSE, REDUCE, REGIFT, RECYCLE.
